What Size Ceiling Rose Should I Order?

What size Ceiling Rose should I go for?

The saying the bigger the better isn’t always true! Well, when it comes to ceiling roses that is!

There are no set rules to which size you should have in a room, but rather the look of the ceiling rose. It should sit nicely in the centre, or off centre if you have multiples in a room. It should neither overpower the room nor look insufficient.

If you are replacing an original or damaged ceiling rose, than a like for like size would be recommended. If the option to replace an original is not available, then the best way to decided which the best size for your room is, would be to take the following into account:

Larger rooms with high ceilings would require larger ceiling roses, such as our 24 inch Victorian Plain.

Small or narrow rooms such as, hallways, downstairs toilets, utilities and rooms with very low ceilings would require the smaller roses, such as our 10 inch Victorian Plain.

What about new houses or the in-between size rooms?

Measure the size of your room in terms of ceiling height x length x width.

This will give you the square meters of the room.

• Smaller than 56.7m3 would require a ceiling rose around 10 inch – 18 inch diameter.

• Larger than 56.7m3 would require a ceiling rose around 19 inch – 30 inch diameter.

Top Tip before buying:

• Cut out a circle of cardboard to the dimensions.

• Hold/stick it in the position of where the ceiling rose will be positioned.

• Then stand back and decide if it is the correct size for the room.

Useful things to take into consideration

Most ceiling roses are approximately 2 or 3 cm deep.

Once a light fitting is in situ, the impact of it will be decreased, as the light will become the main focal point of the ceiling, rather than the ceiling rose itself. If you are installing the ceiling rose with a large or very detailed light, you need to increase the size of the ceiling rose so that it does not dominate the room.

These are all just tips for finding the correct size, but it does come down to personal preference and style of room. If you require any further information, please get in touch.
